Invisible Ink Pen with UV Light Review

This invisible ink pen (sku.88) is a funny and useful product sold at Dealextreme (and some others stores). With it, you can write hidden messages on a paper and then, when you turn on its UV light and point it to the message, it will be revealed (see the video below).

Besides the invisible ink, it contains an UV led (to reveal the written messages) and 3 (three) AG3 batteries.

Its size and weight are similar to a regular pen, so you can carry it everywhere.

Style

We acquired six invisible ink pens from Dealextreme. The only difference among them was the package (see the images above).

About the colors, it seems that Dealextreme and Focalprice sell only one color (purple). Suntekstore says that it has this item in many different colors (according to the description and images). Tinydeal sells a version of this item in red with some images on the pen, but the essential of all of them are the same (invisible ink pen with an UV light).

Price

The invisible ink pen is very cheap and can be found at Dealextreme, Focalprice, Tinydeal and Suntekstore for about $1.35. Tinydeal also sells an item pack that includes 3 invisible ink pen for about $4.4.

Build Quality

Regarding the build quality, there is not too much to comment. You just need to avoid hit the UV led, because it can stop working.

One day the invisible ink will run out, so you may think to fill it again, but the invisible ink pen is so cheap that it is worth to buy a new one than to refill the current.

Usefulness

As we mentioned, you can use it to write hidden messages on a paper, wood, skin, metal, wall, cloth and some other stuff. That is not so useful, but it can be very funny if you show it to your friends.

Another usefulness is to use the ultraviolet light (UV led) of the invisible ink pen as a counterfeit bill detector. Just turn on the UV led and point it to a bill to see some watermarks present in legitimated bills.

Review - Portable MP3 Player with TF Slot (micro SD)

This portable MP3 player (sku.58281) has a TF slot (push-push type) for micro SD cards (not included), plays MP3 musics (it does not plays WMA), has a mini USB connector, does not have the shuffle function, has a 3.5 mm audio socket, has a clip-on design and does not have a LCD screen.

Actually, besides the MP3 player, the package contains also an USB cable of 80 cm (USB to mini USB), a white earphone (the MP3 player does not have a speaker), an English user manual and a box containing all these items.

Because of its clip, the compact design (10.5 x 5.3 x 4.3 cm) and its weight (86 grams), it is easy to carry this portable MP3 player with you.

Style

This portable MP3 player with an iPod shuffle style is sold in different colors. Tinydeal and Focalprice also sold it in different colors, but Tinydeal only sells the portable MP3 player and a micro SD together, which is a little more expensive.

Anyway, below are some links to the different colors.

Dealextreme: black, blue, green, silver, golden and rose red.

Focalprice: green, blue, pink, silver and black.

Some descriptions say that it supports up to 8 GB and other say 4 GB, so we are not sure of which one you will receive. We tested our (bought at Focalprice) player just with a 2 GB micro SD.

Ease of Use

To use this portable MP3 player you just need to turn it on and connect an earphone. It will plays automatically any MP3 file that is stored in the micro SD.

As we said, it does not have a LCD screen, so to control the playing you have to use the buttons "Play/Pause", "Next track", "Previous track", "Volume up" and "Volume down". The manual says that if you hold the "Play/Pause" button for 3 seconds it will toggle the "Hold function" ON and OFF, but we did not manage to do that.

Some descriptions say that this MP3 player also plays WMA music files, but our product did not plays WMA files neither recognizes folders.

While playing or recharging, there will be a light turned on at the same side of the micro SD. Unfortunately, there is nothing indicating that the MP3 player is already recharged.

Build Quality

Starting with a good thing, this portable MP3 player has a TF slot connector of the push-push type, which makes easy to put and remove the micro SD. Just push the micro SD in the slot until you hear a click (put and remove).

The buttons are a little hard to press. Sometimes you press the "Next track" button, but the player recognizes that the "Play/Pause" button was pressed.

Besides the MP3 player emit a loud sound, do not expect too much from the earphone that come together. We recommend that you buy a better one.

Regarding the battery, the working time of this item is about 3 hours and the recharging time is about 4 hours.

Our product box came with some cracks, but it is probably a shipment problem (see images). If you intend to keep it to yourself then that is not a big deal.

Price

It cost about $6.0, which is considered cheap for a portable MP3 player, an earphone and an USB cable, but you must remember that it will be necessary to buy a micro SD separately.

Wireless Alarm for Door and Window Review

This wireless alarm (sku.826) consists of two small pieces, one containing 3 (three) LR44 batteries (or AG13) and a ON/OFF switch and the other containing only a magnetic bar. When these pieces get separate, for example when a door is opened, the alarm goes off a loud sound and treble (90dB to 105dB), which ends scaring any undesirable person.

It is not necessary to use wires, the alarm is small and both pieces that compound the alarm have a double-side adhesive tape backside to simplify the attachment.

Ease of Use

This wireless alarm is recommended to be used on doors and windows of your house, but you also can use it to secure compartments, for instance.

To install the home alarm, you just need to stick (use the double-side adhesive tape) the main piece (that one with the batteries) on the edge of your door (or window), stick the other piece on the door frame and turn on the alarm, but make sure that the two pieces are aligned (there is a reference line on the main piece).

The maximum distance between the two pieces without the alarm going off is 10 mm (approximately).

Price

Considering its usefulness, this wireless entry alarm has a good cost/benefit relation with its price for about $1.8 at Dealextreme (also sold at Tinydeal).

If you are looking for a cheap home alarm, then probably this one will be a great candidate.

Build Quality

Regarding the build quality, the wireless alarm has a loud sound and the double-side adhesive tape is OK. The only problem was that we bought 3 (three) alarms, but 1 (one) of them did not work.

Usefulness

Although simple, this wireless alarm is very useful for those who want to spend a bit and have a simple solution to protect their homes. If you prefer, you can also use it, for instance, to avoid children from opening doors of compartments containing hazardous materials.

As discussed in the Dealextreme's forum, perhaps the loud sound can makes some animals feel stressed. Unfortunately, we could not confirm that, so it is up to you to be careful when the wireless alarm goes off.

LED Flashlight Keychain 22000 mcd Review – 10 pack

This LED flashlight keychain (sku.1100) is a small item, but it is big deal that you can buy at Dealextreme, Focalprice or Tinydeal. It has a bright light (22000 mcd according to the specifications), is lightweight (about 7 grams each one), is powered by 2 (two) CR2016 batteries and, besides the simple ON/OFF button, it has a switch to keep the light on (powered) without pressing the button (if you prefer). By the way, instead of 1 (one), this item has 10 (ten) LED flashlight keychains.

Style

We ordered this item only at Dealextreme, but we also found it at Focalprice and Tinydeal. According to the specifications, they all sell the same product (10 LED flashlight keychains) and have different color versions (plastic).

The color versions that they sell are:

• Dealextreme: white, black, yellow, pink, purple, blue and green.
• Focalprice: green, pink, purple, yellow, blue and black.
• Tinydeal: green, blue, red, yellow and black.

Price

This pack with 10 LED flashlight keychains costs about $4.5 in each store (each LED keychain will cost just $0.45!!!). Even if 10 (ten) keychains are too many, you can buy and give some to someone else as a gift, because they are too cheap.

Build Quality

The build quality of each flashlight keychain is good, specially the LED, which has a bright light (22000 mcd), but sometimes you may receive a damaged LED that does not turn on (problem in battery or LED). For example, we bought 10 (ten) flashlight keychains, but 1 (one) did not work.

Usefulness

This product is useful at the same situations that regular flashlights are, such as using it at dark environments or using it at blackouts. However, this LED flashlight keychain has the advantage of being small, which allows you to carry it everywhere you go.

If you intend to use it frequently, we recommend that you buy reserve batteries, because eventually the batteries will run out.

Multi-colored LED Ball Review

This multi-colored LED ball (sku.02041) is a great decorative light sold at Dealextreme. The multi-colored LED emits a bright light and keeps switching among 7 (seven) different colors during a few second (see the video below).

It has a ON/OFF switch and it is powered by 3 (three) LR44 batteries (included), but AG13 batteries can be used.

Price

For about $3 (three) you can buy this multi-colored LED ball at Tinydeal or Dealextreme, something relatively cheap considering that you hardly will find it in any store of your city (for now).

Build Quality

The LED ball itself is well made, but its box is a little fragile, like is showed on the above images. But that is not something to worry about.

Usefulness

You can use this multi-colored LED ball as a decorative light of your home or office desk. Or maybe send it as a gift for someone else.

In any case, you should consider the battery life, because they will not last forever. We recommend that you buy a pack containing 50 (fifty) AG13 batteries (for about $4.5) or modify the LED ball to use an external power (USB power, like was suggested for some users of Dealextreme).
